Dearest Sister, Who is Really on Top?

Another personal piece… dunno why I’m in the mood to do these recently.

This one has a lot of iconography and symbolism going on;

Top Pendant; The elder sister. Strong, in line for the throne, larger than the other because she is not only physically larger but also because her presence is larger. She is well known, well respected, and highly independent. The style of the pendant is elegant and beautiful, reflecting the inner beauty of the character, while the way she connects her pendant is with a sturdy piece of chain connected to her collar which is parallel to her strong, powerful, and reliable demeanor that she displays.

Bottom Pendant; The younger sister. Wants to be like the elder sister, emulates her ‘sparkle’, has a similar feeling to the fabric of the collar and the types of metals used. Though she is not in line for the throne, nor will ever be a candidate, she still holds power. Her pendant is held on with a locket bail, an elegant and dainty indication to the character’s cute attitude and girly ways while the pendant itself has sharp edged patterns and earthy, rustic colors, giving away the boyish disposition and tendencies she possesses.

The Red Silk; Blood. Blood of bonded sisters, through their blood they will forever be related and forever reminded of each other. Blood for the father that will soon be gone, and the daughter that will take his place. Blood for the oncoming disaster in the kingdom, the loss of lives, of loved ones.

Two larger shines on the elder sister’s pendant; She is recognized for her power, her grace, her diplomacy. She shines brighter for everyone’s future.

Two smaller shines on the younger sister’s pendant; Her potential has yet to be realized. Forever hidden from the world, never revealed, yet always influential. Her happiness determines the fate of the kingdom.

These pendants belong to my two girls in Affinifur. Retsis, the elder sister who exemplifies my determination and drive to be successful, and Omorphia, the younger sister who embodies my playful, childish attitude towards most things in life. Both are stricken with horrible burdens that keep them weighed down and both handle these burdens in different ways.

As representations of different aspects to me, they are constantly battling for who will be on top. If I lose one, I become cynical and focus only on skills gained and positions earned. If I lose the other I will never succeed for I’m lost within fantasy. A balance must be kept between the two yet a battle wages every day.

For who will be on top.
